This google earth Satellite image gallery illustrates land use patterns of a range of global metropolitan areas as they have grown into the historic farmlands that surround them. All images are taken from an elevation of 33 (54 km) miles above ground level. The city center of each metro area is located along an edge of the image to help illustrate relative distances of farms to the city and urban development into farmlands.
